We are pleased to offer our patients specialized laser treatment services provided under the direct care of Dr. Carol Byrd at our Reynolds Crossing office. Dr. Byrd treats patients with a variety of skin care concerns and has over 30 years of experience in the medical field.
Over a series of laser treatments, permanent hair reduction can be achieved. We offer three different lasers to remove unwanted hair. Generally, the number of treatments it takes to ensure complete hair removal is between six and twelve, varying for each individual patient. Each laser treatment session will take anywhere from 15 to 90 minutes, and will take approximately 5 to 7 treatment sessions. The Alexandrite and IPL systems are recommended for lighter skin and darker hair; the Nd:YAG is safe for all skin tones and is especially recommended for patients with darker skin tones.
Photo-rejuvenation uses IPL or Intense Pulsed Light to treat the entire face, chest, hands and other areas of the body leaving skin looking younger and feeling smoother. Using different wavelengths of light to target areas beneath the skin, IPL photo-rejuvenation leaves the outer layer of skin virtually untouched. IPL treatments can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the size of the area and part of the body. You can expect anywhere from 1 to 5 treatment sessions, depending on what’s being treated, the skin type, and reaction to laser.
Both KTP and Nd:Yag are vascular lasers used to treat veins on the face or legs in cases of angiomas, telangiectasias (spider veins), or any facial vessels. The Nd:Yag is a laser using Neodymium-doped Yttrium Aluminum Garnet. KTP redirects the laser through Potassium Titanyl Phosphate Crystal. KTP is best for small red vessels (telangiectasias) on the face and angiomas (spider, cherry) found all over the body. The Nd:Yag is best for leg vessels and deeper, darker, vessels.
Laser treatments can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the size of the area/part of the body. For hair removal expect 5 to 7 treatments, IPL for redness expect 3 to 5 treatments, IPL for pigmentation expect 1 to 3 treatments. This can vary depending on skin type or reaction to laser.
