Botox

Botox is an injectable treatment used to soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.  Botox works by blocking nerve impulses to the muscles of facial expression, allowing the muscles to relax and the skin to appear smooth.  Results last anywhere from 3-6 months.  Common treatment areas include the wrinkles across the forehead, around the eyes, between the eyebrows, and around the lips.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are injectable gels used to improve the appearance of facial lines and re-volumize the face in areas of age-related volume loss.  Fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance in the body that provides volume, hydration and elasticity to the skin.  Common treatment areas include the lips, cheeks, and smile/laugh lines around the nose and mouth.  Results of treatment last anywhere from 6 to 18 months, depending on patient, type and amount of filler used and area treated.

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a procedure that effectively treats varicose and spider veins. It is generally used for small varicose veins but can be used for larger ones. Sclerotherapy involves injecting a solution directly into the unsightly vein. The solution then causes the vein to scar and eventually collapse and fade.

Chemical Peel

A chemical peel is a common cosmetic treatment used to improve the appearance of the skin. A chemical solution is applied directly to the face and subsequently peeled off, resulting in a general tightening of the skin, giving it a smoother and younger look. Chemical peels can improve fine lines and small acne scars, among other things.

Here at Dermatology Associates of Virginia, P.C; we offer three different types of chemical peels:

  • Jessner’s and Beta Hydroxyl peels are both considered superficial chemical peels, and utilize salicylic acid.
  • Trichloroacetic acid chemical peels have varying strengths (25%, 30%, and 35%) and are a medium depth chemical peel.

Cosmetic services are generally not medically necessary in nature and therefore not filed with your insurance carrier. Payment in full will be required at the time the services are provided in our office. Please note that some cosmetic services are only offered by certain physicians and not at all locations.
